Default Transmission revisited

Will the internals from a usdm ls(90-93) or usdm gsr(92-93) fit into a jdm s1 casing? I know that the input splines are different between the 90-91 vs. 92-93, but it is time for a clutch anyway....

thanks

I don't think so, the only trans that you can put same internals in for usdm and jdm is the y1 trans and only 92-93 gsr usdm came with in the states.

Listen man, at the risk of sounding like a dick:

What experience are you basing your info from?

I've seen both a USDM 1990-1991 LS tranny and a JDM S1/J1 side by side and the internals look identical except of course for the teeth count on gears and the FD.

What parts are you looking to swap? Please be a tad more specific and I can probably find out for since we have a few cable B-Series trannies laying aroung my shop here.

since I have a casing (S1) with crap synchros, I thought that it may be good to find a 90-93 ls or gsr trans with a bad casing. The pros would be to have ready access to usdm synchros now as well as in the future, and to piece together a ls 5th gear swap for cruising. Cons would be price of course, but getting a us trans would assure that I can get parts in the future...
