ok i have a 90 si civic ef with a 00 b16a2 in it i have a junper harness to obd1 and im using a obd1 p72 witch works perfectly fine vtec kicks in n power is good.. the dizzy plugs r obd1 as well but the problem im having is maybe about 15-20 mins after driving my check engine light comes on n the car seems to lose power when vtec kicks in not much but just a bit... the codes im getting are code 23=knock sensor n 17=vss how can i fix that if i already replaces both n recheck the wiring n im still getting the codes when i drive

BTW i got a 00 si cluster in it so i have a electronic vss n a hydro tranny here are 2 pics maybe it can help thanks

 

hey man Nice swap.i had the same problem when i did my swap vss will not let vtec kick in and if your getin a knock sensor the might but you ecu into limp mode

 

thanks man n yeah the vss was messd up i replaces it n vtec works strong in till the light comes on...but how do i get it out of limp mode?

 

Just take the power off the batt for like 30 sec or so it shouuld reset your ecu

i too have cell code 17 how do i fix it? i also have a bad cluster. not sure if that would throw it off or not?

 

To fix knock sensor code. Run a wire from pin d3 to the knock sensor on the back of the block it is a one wire plug for the knock sensor and if it is already wired right then knock sensor is bad.... As for your vss I'm not sure how it gets wired up I kno d10 is the pin on the ecu for the vss but I don't kno wat wire it gets connected to on the vss on the tranny look ast this pin out for help http://www.phearable.net/tech/wiring...schematics.gif.

 

wow thats a pretty clean swap..nice. all i see is hack jobs that look like crap. i take my time and make things look pretty.

 

the check engine light will only come on for the knock sensor when there is an open or short in the wiring or bad sensor, it won't come on when the motor is pinging. your ecu is most likely pulling timing

 

I think he bumped an 09 thread. He's asking for the VSS, the OP was asking about the knock/VSS
