Default ls/vtec options

i have a 92 da integra. i have a b16 setup in it right now. i want to put a 1.8 block on it but iam having trouble picking my combo. i want to keep the b16 heads cuz of the high flow ports. for the block i dont know if i should go with an LS or Gsr block. i was thinking of keeping my GSR transmission that i have with the b16 heads with a LS block, i want to supercharge, not turbo, it eventually. do you think that is wise. how will the engine run without the s/c on the LS block in the mean time? please advise. has anyone had a b16head, ls block, and gsr trans w/o a turbo or super? how did it run? how did it run after you turbo/supercharged it?

well first off, you say you want LSvtec, but a gsr block would make your setup (with a b16 head) a poormans type r.

And by the way you have a b16 head, singular. Not b16 head(s).

B16 head flows almost identical to a gsr, and has been proven that its not much of a difference. For higher compression, a gsr head would be better due to its small combustion chambers.

Putting a GSR, b16 or ITR transmission on a stock LS has been proven to be very effective. Due to its short gears, the torque comes in faster, since the revs are much quicker on any short geared tranny like those i mentioned before.

The only way, that i see, to make an LSvtec rev good, would be to get a gsr or better yet an itr tranny (LSD).

I would opted for the gsr block, if your going supercharger, only because ls vtec arent renowned for their reliability. i would keep the b16 or upgrade to lsd tranny.
