Default Short Shifter Question

I cant seem to find a simple answer to this simple question on google or h-t.com.

What type of short shifters are the ones that only stick up about 2 inches? like really short ones, idk how to explain it all too well...
For instance, a RX-8 has a really small shifter. My car has a short shifter already(skunk 2) but its almost the same height as the stock one.
better yet, lemme show a pic of what i mean...

this is the style i want. I dont know the specific type of the short shifter though

Heres the style of shifter I have.

I always assumed that shorter would be better because the throw distance would decrease. Im sure we're only talking about a .013 sec response time improvement though...(and yes i pulled the .013 sec out my *** cuz i really dont know the improvment )
IDK I just find the shorter style to be more sleek and professional in my opinion.

shortening the length doesn't shorten the shift, moving the pivot point (which a short shifter does) shortens the shift. common misconception

TWM Performance makes a sick short shifter. They have three models. If you check out the stage 2 "FS" model (stands for ****in short lol) it's REALLY short and throws are REALLY reduced.

check out their site:

wowzer @ the stage 2 with 50% throw reduction!
so whats the durability expectancy on these little things?
Ive heard some horror stories about bodily injury because some aftermarket shifter broke causing it to stab their arm or bash their knuckles into stereos. lol
