Default Overhyped n/a cars, nitrous myths, and, arrogant ITR owners...

Mods this IS ITR related, so please bare with me. The reason for my post is that I've noticed general trends on this board that are very one-sided and biased toward particular brands, tuners, and, motorsport activities. The h-t ITR forum in my opinion is the best of the best. It's a place where ITR owners from around the world share and exchange information without the usual BS that goes on in "import" web boards.

In recent times there have been lots of things that are the general concensious around here. Like anti-JDM'ism, Over-exagerated nitrous myths, the bashing of anyone who doesn't agree with a select "few", and, quite a few ignorant rantings about the abilities of oem/Spoon style parts vs. some of the other high end "race" parts.

I can only speak for myself when it comes to my experience with Honda cars, and occasionally I'll back up someone I know personally if I know they are telling the truth. My life IS cars, I work 50+ hours a week in a Jaguar dealership, and spend countless late nights either wrenching on my Stang or messing around with the R, when I should really be spending "quality time" with my wife rather than wrenching with gearheads. Outside of people that post on this type of board there is a whole world of guys that own fast Honda's (of all sorts) but dont spend time on the internet.

So just because "so and so" made 200 whp with a mild spec B set up, or "so and so" blew up his car the first time out with nitrous, IT DOES NOT MAKE IT GOSPEL! Please guys, a little objectivity would be nice. I've seen many different set-ups first hand that worked like they were meant to work and others that were a total performance flop. So lets try and be decent to the next guy that posts his 185 whp Spoon cam set up, and not instantly jump all over him and say his car is weak! Or bash the next guy that makes a nitrous question! There is more to life than auto-X cones and tempermental, short-lived, overhyped N/A set ups.

Lip, Incognito, and, itr206 are all guys that race at E-town and I've seen their cars run those times with my own two. But for all the Lip's and itr206's of the world there are 10 other guys blowin their motors with improper f/i mods and guys putting holes in pistons with huge cams/shredded timing belts/valvespring failiure etc.

Again, a little objectivity would be nice.

H-PIMP,

I have always enjoyed your objectivity and open-mindedness to this hobby. I share your thoughts and could not have written it any better myself.

I think we all need to be "grounded" once in a while and this was a timely effort on your part. Well done!

I agree, and hopefully this post wont get deleted or moved. I myself have been subject to sarcasm and treated like another n00b just because I didnt know something(read: a lot of things). Im here to learn and try to figure things out for myself and it would be nice if people tried to help out rather than shoot you down, critcize you, or whatever.

Hey, I never mentioned car shows. Personally I'm not a fan of them, but to each his own. I'd rather see a bunch of classic/restored muscle cars at a show than a bunch of expensive rice.

Although I still think JDM parts are generally a waste of money.

I'll give a to the post, but everybody's not going to feel the same way about everything. No matter how much I may hate car shows, someone out there is going to like it....it's sort of similar to no matter how fast you are or how well you drive or how well you tune, there's someone out there that does it differently and better than you

Great post H-PIMP. I really enjoy listening and reading peoples experiences whether their drag racing or autocross/road race related. NAWZ, all motor, turbos is all good to me, as long as I can learn something new and look at a new and different perspective. I have my favorites (NA mods and Jay-Dee MM styling ) but am open to all suggestions and views. We all share a love for cars, specifically Hondas and should listen and learn and not be so quick to criticize or form premature opinions. Mod on boyz..

Agreed, I don't think you should try Nos on your car but...nothing wrong with showing, racing, dragging ex. Cars are great, I perfer Honda's the most and I think everyone is here for the same reason.....To learn from eachother and also enjoy our common interests.

Andy: Shows , Racing (Track/Roadcourse), Drags O.K.

Right on Pimp!

The stuff discussed in this post is part of the reason I sold my 200whp B20 hatch and bought a Vette. The import scene sucks...horribly!
