'99 Accord vandalized, but alarm did not go off....
At 2AM Monday morning my car was vandalized. The front windshield was smashed, back window was broken out, and the rear drivers window was broken as well. Plus my 2 drivers-side tires were slit. The drivers window has a huge scuff mark in it where the crow bar hit it, but thankfully it did not break.
I do have full coverage and I am currently working with them to get my car fixed.
My question to you guys/gals today, is why didn't my alarm go off? I had it set and I believe it is mentioned in the police report as being set and armed, but I did not hear it go off. All I heard was them destroying my car. To me, the alarm should have gone off. Do Honda alarms not go off unless the door is jar'd or the car is started up? Should I call Honda and ....... make them pay?
Please help, I'm kinda fried we weren't able to catch these people.
Thanks.

jeez any idea who did it?
as far as i know, factory honda alarms will not go off if a window is broken or something of that nature, i don't believe they are that sensitive.

No I have no idea who would do that to my car. I'm pretty sure I didn't make anyone mad :/
Ok, well darn! I wanted Honda to pay. :/ at least nothing was stolen I guess.

Some newer Honda alarms have glass break sensors. The older ones probably don't.
It's the main reason people upgrade the alarms, stock ones are shitty.

I'm quite sure that Honda will graciously decline to accept any culpability in this matter.
I would point you to Directed Electronics. The manufacturer of Viper, Python and Clifford lines of auto security products.
I've a Viper 5002 with both glass and tilt sensors. Three years later and it's never faulted, and is still more than happy to tell me when so much as an acorn bounces off my car*. They intergrate directly with your factory remote entry system, so it's pretty much seamless.
I would suggest you look into this once you get the car sorted out.
P
* two way remote. It contacts me up to 1 mile away if there is activity, and displays which zone was effected.
