The official answer from the manual is 4.2 quarts. When changing oil, I generally fill to 4 quarts, then let it down and add about another 1/4 quart, checking with the dipstick.
Works great if you're buying 4 qt bottles. I throw in a whole 4qt, then a quarter of a small bottle.

This is what I do with my B16A.
Drain oil, remove/install filter, pour in 4 quarts of oil (1 US gallon), start and check for leaks, drive until operating temp is reached. Re-check level and add if needed to reach the top hole on the dipstick.
It does not need to be exact, but a quart low is not good.

I usually don't get in between e-arguing and flaming, but I feel like I have to speak up on this matter. Everyone needs to take a chill pill. Honda-tech nowadays follows the same pattern on most topics:
1. Someone asks a questions because they are just trying to learn.
2. Someone starts to flame the person for asking a "dumb" question.
3. The OP then fights back calling the other person stupid.
4. Other person fights back and says get a life.
5. Then OP says eff off and that the other person should get a life and that they are done arguing with them.
6. Other person says something back.
7. Even though OP said he'd stop or he's done, he doesn't stop and keeps talking back.
8. Someone who wants to learn more things about their car get's lost amongst all this e-arguing and cannot find anything constructive on the matter and the thread goes down the hole.
Let's all just try and make nice and just help the guy out and if you don't have anything to say then don't post.
As far as to the OP's question, 4.2 quarts would be right. However, what I normally do is what many others have stated, which is fill up with 4 quarts, start the car and let the oil circulate, refill if necessary. Hope it helps.

its funny you put this sence you just called him a jackass for asking a question.
yes, it was a stupid question, yea he could have search and found this 2 times as fast...
also op, acting the way you did, is no way to get people to want to help you. some people are *** holes, just let them go, and dont pay attension to them.
