HELP: knocking noise when i turn right...
hey guys. i need some help.
so i have a 92 civic si hb running on H&R sport springs and stock shocks.
whenever i turn the wheel to the right, i get this knocking/rubbing noise from the front DRIVER side.
initially i thought it would be the cv boots or axels themselves.
checked both sides, no rips or leaking oil on either boots.
both axels are fine, wiggled them a bit, there's a little bit of play but not enough to be a problem...
my brother thinks its the wheel bearing...
i've tried putting the car on jackstands and running the wheels freely but no noise. im assuming because there isn't any pressure put on the wheels...
wat im really asking is; how can i diagnose this problem?
and wat im most concerned about it how severe/important is the problem?
UPDATE:
so i checked the bearing by spinning the wheel manually and shaking the hub. no play when i try to shake it, and no grinds or weird noises when i spin the wheel...
the noise is getting louder now and i'm starting to feel it on the pedals when it knocks...
thanks!

not a clicking sound... more of a low toned swooshing sound...
yeah i checked that as well.. sometimes i get the noise when changing lanes as well, and always when making turns..
keep em coming!
keep em coming!
is the pitch change in speed? is your tire choppy/cupping? could be wheel bearing also.. drive your vehicle when u can hear the sound and the swerve (turn your steering wheel left to right)see if the noise will go away?

turn the wheel all the way to the right dead a stop stop> let off the brake and let the car roll with no gas,
if its still making the sound, your not rubbing, you wouldnt have enough momentum to rub on the fender
i would inspect the wheel well, axles,
jack up your front of the car and let it run with the wheels spinning
look for the where the sound is coming from

yeah i did some zig zags left and right before and it only makes the noise when i go right, no noise when i straighten the wheels or go left...

is it possible that the joint is bad even thought the boots aren't ripped or leaking?
[QUOTE=mister.wong;39925931]nope the pitch stays the same .. a low toned swooshing noise... and no the tire isn't cupping.

tried both of these... no fender rubbing..

sound like u have a bad left front wheel bearing...coz if u turn to the right u putting all the pressure to the left wheel...its just my opinion its for u to verify...

to check a wheel bearing properly you need to jack that side of the car up, and take the wheel off and then spin it.......that way you can get your ear on it to listen but while you turn it you WILL feel is grinding if its bad in any way, but its best to get both wheels up and off so you can compare the two......just a suggestion

axle?...or wheele bearings? try jacking the front tires up and pushing to the top of the tire then the bottom back and forth.check to see if there is any movement, then u know its the bearings. hope it helps
i had the same issue your axle might of for some odd reason popped out just a little and u might have to just pull it out and shove it right back in
tried that too. i tried pulling the axle off the tranny and back on... and dripped oil all over my face *puke*
it is possible for the cv to be bad and you just can't tell however this usually would be noticeable with it running on jacks would say it is probably the bearing. Just try replacing the bearing it's only maybe a 2 hour $40 job at most. I would be surprised if that didn't fix it. If not posting a you tube video may help us help you. Does it sound like it is in tune with the your speed...on faster turns does it click or whatever more and vice verse on slower turns?
