I just got my headers installed by a shop and they had to take the cat off because the headers were too long, so he had to run a straight pipe. Now my car sounds like a fart can when I drive. I have a Comptech Sports exhaust and I liked the sound it had before I installed my headers. Is there a way I can get the sound back? I don't mind the smell, but the sound is killing me. Thanks

 

The exhaust shop should have shortened the pipe and used the OEM cat during the header install.

The sound changed for 2 reasons, the header install and the removal of the cat (which acts as an additional resonator). Putting the cat back would help, but you'll never get the exact same sound since that cat/resonator is relocated and the header is different than the previous exhaust manifold.

im in the same boat. i hate how my greddy evo sounds mainly cuz of the test pipe

 

So would shortening the pipe and putting the cat back on at least give me a similar sound to what I had before? If not, maybe I should just go back to stock headers.

 

Was it a performace shop? The shops around here will never remove your cat because its a illegal unles your replacing it with a better condition on.
