Suddenly can't rev past 7200rpms
Maybe somebody has experienced this before. I recently rebuilt the head on my stroked b16b (about 3000miles since rebuild) and had it tuned on s300. I have had no problems until last week when it "cutout" a little over 7k. It pulls strong through vtec @ 6k but falls on it's face after 7k.
Oil checks out ok and I changed plugs. No leaks and the fuel pressure is normal. It's rev limited by s300 @ 9200 and gets there quick....well did. I will check grounds at lunch. Anywhoo

Ah, we do have the iacv shut down real low to stop the surging. Temp hasn't changed much here and I'm not throwing any codes but this may be it.
Maybe I was misleading and need to clarify a little. It will rev past 7k but falls on it's face or stumbles, almost like having a clogged converter, and stops pulling.

Update: Just changed oil and found a 10mm bolt attached to my magnetic drain plug

When oil is low I often experience this, check out the latest 2010 bmw z4.
Replaced 1 valve seal, 1 retainer and 2 keepers. Started up great then we slipped and put a cut in the timing belt. Got to late to go any further. Will have picks of the retainer as soon as they come off the camera.

I dont follow .. you said you have a 10mm bolt in your oil pan..
And now you dont have a retainer or keep and your valve didn't destory your motor??
