Default Header recomendation?

Guys, I need advice on header setup for my car.
im currently running:
-1.8cc Stroked B16B
-spoon cams
-Spoon N1 exhaust
-Top fuel intake
-B16B oem exhaust line
-B16B oem intake manifold
-Oem 16B ecu, but already have bought an AEM EMS.

So, currently have the following options
- Hytech Tri-y replica 2.5 inch collector, Clearance problems???
- 5zigen 4-2-1 header (2.25 inch collector)
- Mugen 4-1 header (2.25 collector.

Its daily driver and thinking about going into some Auto-x racing, so interested in midrange power.
What should i do, go for a 4-2-1 setup o 4-1?
Should i use a 2.5" inch or is it ok to use the 2.25" header?

Thanks in advance.

Hello JDM-Vti

Look, if you're really interested in some gains on the mid range then I'd suggest you stick to the 4-2-1 with a 2.5' inch collector setup.
If I had to choose from your options then I'd choose the Hytech replica. But, taking into consideration all the good intems you've thrown into your engine, then I would defenetely buy the genuine Hytech. So don't just spoil the fun, get a genuine Hytech header and tune it through EMS. Don't even think on running the car with the B16b ecu, at least I wouldn't. The only reason to run that ecu is if you don't have a basemap on your EMS and you need to drive the car to get it tuned.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response.
Now, from what ive been told, tri-y headers hang up more than the ITR stock header (or mugen, 5zigen etc.), i guess its due to its design, and you can have clearance issues?
Our streets are kind of nasty....

What about vibrant? Ive been recommended also.

Any place to find decent priced hytech header?

Most of the Hytech replicas are junk. You can read my review of one here:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/review-big-tube-header-sublimnal-2625367/

I would strongly recommend going with a 4-2-1 of similar design from a more reputable company, like Comptech or even Weapon-R rather than a Chinese ebay copy.

Lastly, check around and see if anyone has a used real Hytech header for sale. I have picked them up for $500 before, which is not much more than the Chinese crap sells for.

Best of luck with your project.

May I recommend our Bisimoto V2 B-series header?
Each of our headers is custom built to the customers specs and we design them for the most ground clearance possible. We can design a header to give you power in the range you want and the best performance for your type of driving

im not trying to bash kamikaze... but from what i read here on HT, kamikaze doesn't seem to have the best all motor headers. folks say they're better suited for supercharged engines. the most positive thing i heard was some gained a lil top end. i personally never used them so i cant say for myself they're bad. just havent heard anyone raving about how well they performed

Thanks for the comments.
From what people have been telling me around, im looking for this options:

- 5 ZIGEN 4-2-1 B18C (2.5") header.
- Vibrant 4-2-1 jspec header
- Hytech / the most expensive.

What do you think...

Since it appears your build has been fairly well thought out, I think you shouldn't drop money on an off-the-shelf header.

There are a handful of great vendors here who provide excellent exhaust manifolds. Dave @ SMS, John @ Hytech, Danny @ SSR, and Bisi of course. I think there is something to be said when you can talk to the person who is about to make your manifold (or at least be involved, they may not physically lay the beads...) and get their advice and experience.

Just remember your goals for the car, the expected power delivery, and express this when you spec out your manifold.

I've been seeing pretty good results recently on the RMF narrow 4-1. You can search for the thread in the performance forum. Also Vteckidd has a dyno chart of his stock b18c with the header installed in the all motor forum somewhere.

My header makes consistently more power in the midrange and up top than any of those headers. I cant imagine the Mugen being much better than the DC JDM header which my header KILLS. And i also beat the Hytech header consistently.

My header is a version of the old RMF Narrow, on my STOCK ITR i made 197/139 (just a stock OEM longblock with header)

PM me if you want one.

There are some pictures of the SMSP header in this post.

The quality is top notch. I hope to have it on the car very soon.
Currently still waiting on the cat, parts on back order
