Icon2 Lowering on a budget 1992 Civic Dx

Hi H-T, So I just put Buddy Club p1 sf 15x6.5 +42 offset with 205/50/15 tires on my eg. I love the way the rim and tires look, but realize it needs to be a little bit lower to look great. I'm looking for a cheap option to drop my car 1-2 inches. Any pictures to go along with advice would be awesome.. Thanks!

On a $500 budget Skunk2 springs and sport shocks are nice as are Progress springs and Tokico Hp blues. If you got more money to spend the options are pretty much unlimited. The most popular setup for hondas is usually Koni shocks with Ground Control coilovers.

as cheap as possible for now just to drop it. New motor & shenanigans next summer, so re-do by then. 500 or less currently.

the cheapest thing you can do is cut the springs........but you then run the risk of bottoming out due to the soft rates. since i hate spending money twice i would probably buy the koni sport shocks for $455 and use the lower clip setting. the shocks have two perch settings in front and 3 out back allowing you to lower your car with stock springs. if more is needed, well, the die grinder and cut off wheel work. at least going this way has you set up for ground controls when you can afford it.

for only a 1-2 inch drop, you shouldn't need anything over $500.

heating and cutting are two different things. heating you should never do. cutting, while not the best idea can be done if you know what you're doing. i think the konis alone should give you the lowered look that you're after on the lower perch though

LOL basically cut stock springs. Save up for KYB AGX and lowering springs at least. I think agx for my car is like 300-350 and H&R sport springs are 200. That is a way better set up than tokico blues which are basically stock replacements. Later you can save up for GC sleeves if you want.

tokico hp kits are junk, stock springs and i'm not sure if the shocks are even as good as oem

shock wise you can get the koni str.t for $300, the sports for $455 or, as the guy above has said, kyb agx for 300-350 which isn't bad and they are also far better than the blues. spring wise. lots of good choices, h&r, tein, eibach or the ground control sleeves. just pick your rate and drop

If you are really cheap just cut your stock springs... It's just a civic.

you can get megan lowering springs for about 100$ -112$ skunk 2 springs for about $180 or progessive springs.... i just joined HT and i noticed not everyone is helpful i understand they try and help to get you good quality but even full coilovers can be junk if u just want a nice drop look into lowering springs not that expensive and they will last awhile with stock shocks they will not blow right away and if you you do the motor swap and decide to upgrade your shocks then go for it tociko seems to be the best option

i wasnt talking price about blues i was speaking price of lowering springs and yea your right about the konis but if your just looking for comfort blues are a prefered strut with springs or coilovers IMO and from what i see ..people should read whats asked before they answer

A long time ago (about 10 years), I put eibachs with stock struts. It lowered the car without being obnoxious. It never blew the stock struts, and they are now on my DD. They are a bit worn out, but still not leaking. Any strut is gonna wear out over time and the abuse I put those things through. They were always a nice cheap route to go

if you want something that will last you and would get you a good drop.... get ground control coil over sleeves with tociko blues ..its very comfertable and you can buy gc's now and get blues later
