OK I did a search on this and found nothing, so now I'm asking you guys.
Does anyone know if the ballasts from a OEM JDM ITR headlight assembly can be taken off and put on a NON OEM JDM HID headlight assembly? I've matched up both of them and I don't see a problem, but then again that was with out taking them apart. LMK what you guys think or know. I appriciate all the help I can get.

It might be doable to somehow mount the ballasts on non-hid lights, but then you don't have the same projector to disburse the light or the proper cut off. You'd effectively get the same results with a plug and play HID kit. Its not simply the ballasts that make the housings so desirable.
Yeah he's right it's not the ballast that is great it's the projectors that are pretty awesome. The only downfall is the shields for them are rhd so to get them aimed for lhd roads we have to aim them so low that it limits how far the light can travel.Ballast are ballast and are plentiful so it may not be worth the hassle to just modify a good set of headlights just for oem ballast.

It looks like to me when I sit both headlight assemblies on a table that they look the same. Except for one minor detail and that is it looks like one has a black metal box on it and the other doesn't. I know the box is the HID, but are the projectors on the OEM JDM NON HID housing the same as the OEM JDM HID housings?
The reason I say this is that I found a brand new OEM JDM NON HID headlight assemblies for sale and I wanted to get them in case something happened to my OEM JDM HID headlight assemblies. I thought that I could just remove the HID ballast and put it on the new OEM JDM housing. Let me know if I'm going to far on this part. I would prefer to keep the HID factory from HONDA, but if I have to go to aftermarket HID's then I will.

The bulbs will not fit into the non hid housings. The projectors are different for sure. The oem hid projector is similar to the s2000s but it has a cast shield and not removable like that of the s2000.Light output between the two are pretty equal.Get non hid housings and retrofit s2000 projectors. Then you can have awesome light output shooting in the right direction.

Thanks SPOOLINFOOL for the info. i Think I shall go the route you suggested with using S2000 hids on the OEM JDM NON HID housing assembly.
