How to I replace my ECM?
2 Days ago I accidentally put my new battery in backwards thus I think I fried my ECM.. I have no idea excatly what the problem is because the car is stuck in park in my garage and cannot take it to a professional. None of the lights or any electronics besides the brake lights are working which means the battery is good.
I have read that replacing an ecm is an easy fix and i plan on buying one from ebay in the next day or so.. my problem is I dont know how to get the old ECM out.. I removed the carpet from the passenger side and removed 2 screws from it, but its still bolted in there.. thanks so very much in advance for any help
It's a 1999 Accord v6 3.0 EX

You sure it is fried?
The morons @ Batteries Plus did that to my car and all it did (thankfully) was blow a ton of my audio fueses and the 80 amp battery fuse. It should have blown the 80 amp fuse meaning that you have no power going to anything in the car so you can't really know.
Replace that first along w/ any other blown fuses and im sure youll be fine.

Are you getting any electronic power to the car? Fuel pump, radio, etc?
Can you start the car?
Have you made sure all fuses are okay? Sometimes a harline crack can cause them to not work.
And the 50 amp battery fuse you replaced looks like an upside down T right? It has two copper feet.

You need to check pretty much all of them, but start with the thin colored ones.
I would check the headlight fuses first and if they are blown replace them and then see if your headlights come on and then continue that process for the others.
Look at all fuse boxes, I dont know if you have 2 or 3 but make sure to check them all out.
When you pull out a fuse you will see a u shaped piece of metal. Hold it up to the light and see if there is a break or not in the u part. However, it is possible that there could be hairline cracks in the fuse which are very hard, if not sometimes impossible, to see. Such a crack could cause just enough resistance to not allow the power go through.

I have connected it backwards a couple of times on a couple of cars and all I had to do was replace some fuses. We are not perfect and that is why we have fuses!
Good Diagram! It looks like I was wrong about what amp that fuse was. I though 80 but I guess its 100 unless its diff. for the 5th gens.
Anyways, he said the tail lights are coming on so that doesn't make sense. That fuse should have blown but there shouldn't be any power going to anything if it is blown. Maybe to big of a fuse was in?
I guess we'll have 2 see.

I'm taking it to a Honda place tomorrow.. to get it professionally looked at.
Thanks for the help and I'll update yall.
I cannot find those fuses anywhere though like the amps are not the same at all, I'm guessing honda has custom fuses?

You were 100% right.. The reason when I replaced the fuse earlier and it didnt start was the fact that it wasn't a honda specific fuse, I replaced the main fuse with the 100a battery fuse and i was good to go.. minus replacing the fuse in my aftermarket radio and some other miscellaneous 20a fuses.
this picture should help you in finding blown fuses
edit: saw last post after making this one....but the picture should help you for future reference
