Minimal power difference - use common sense, it's a pipe. Making one end a bit larger is not going to do much. I would sell whichever one is in worse shape personally and keep the better looking one.

Uh, no, it's not just a larger pipe on one end, it's a a pipe within a pipe.... clip from AEM "The system utilizes a dual chamber (using two different diameters and lengths of piping) that creates multiple frequency sound waves to produce a larger area under the curve. These sound waves help charge the cylinders with more air and are what enables them to outperform our cold air systems."

For $30 , hell yes, do it !!

Where are you seeing it's a pipe within a pipe? It's a tapered system. The end towards the cone filter is larger then is welded to the smaller diameter pipe. I owned one, there was no pipe within a pipe......

*edit*

My old car for reference

are all the AEM v2 systems designed as short ram intakes, or were some done as cold air...

the original airbox on the car could technically be considered cold air right, as it takes it air through the hole in the fender wall

The first bit, I believe depends on application, the Accord's V2 was as pictured in my post. I have seen some though that look more cold airish.

The second bit is incorrect. The OEM airbox pulls air over the battery from the grill. The bit you're referring to is just a resonator box behind the bumper cover.

If you look at my picture the OEM flows over the battery (front side of it) down a little upside down J pipe into the resonator behind the bumper then up to the airbox with the filter then into the actual rubber arm.

well the DC header and exhaust will definitely help your case.. i would definitely go for the v2 personally...

just a question, and I dont want to hijack, but if the OEM airbox takes air from under the hood next to the battery, then why isnt there a problem of heat soak.. the location is just as shielded from heat as that of the SRI. ..
could it be that it is the chrome piping which absorbs most of the heat (instead of the stock plastic internals)

thanks

well I understand that, but it still doesnt explain why there isnt much in the way of heat soak from the OEM airbox considering that its not much different to the SRI... a litle more restrictive maybe, but is it the fact that it is made of plastic that prevents heat soak?
other that that, it should by all means be sucking hot air from the engine

It is pulling air from the grill area so a touch colder then going through the bumper cover resonator which I'd imagine cools it down somewhat. I'm not a thermal chemist whatever engineer so I can't tell you for sure why it's what it is. But the path I explained is the correct one.

its still just an intake people , no 15 horse gains or anything . i,ve dyno'd a bunch ,even cut them while in the process to find a happy medium for tuning , cold air is way better than stock don,t get me wrong ,but one cai over the other is nothing big gained. and they usually are build oriented ( drag, touring, short, long) and a real cold air would drop to the fender opening outside the engine bay

i realize everyone's said it already.. but you might as well buy it for $30 and compare the two.

worst case scenario you can sell one of the two intakes..
