Default Gear-X 4.9 question

I have a 95 Del Slow VTEC. I recently picked up a Gear-X 4.928 FD. There was a little confusion on what I needed to go with for my transmission...the one for the B16/LS (Part # HO106) or the EK9/B18C/B16 (Part # AC103) What I ended up going with was the one for that was for the EK9/B18C/B16, as I was told by the shop I got it from that I need that one since it was a hydro tranny. So that is the FD i have (part # AC103). Well I am now looking to get an MFactory LSD to go in with it and have come back to that point of confusion. Do I get the B16B/B18C LSD for it ? Do I get the B16A2 ? Do I need to do anything special like a first gear mod like you with the 98+ ITR FD swap to use this FD? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First off, they sold you the wrong final drive.

Second, since they sold you the wrong final drive, you need to get the MFactory LSD for a B18C, not the B16A.

Third, you need to get diff bearings for a B18C (because they sold you the wrong final drive and you now have to use a B18C diff), as the B16A bearings are different.

Thanks. I also did a little bit more digging and came to the same conclusion... They sold me the wrong FD !! I was going to do new bearings when it all went in anyway, so thats no big deal. My only concern is now will all the gears, syncros and such from the b16 work on this new setup ? If I just go with the b18c diff. and bearings will I be good to go ? The diff. bearings are larger for the b18c, so is clearance going to become an issue ? Is it any less of a pain in my *** if I just try to get them to switch it out for the B16/LS and go with the diff. for that ?

Everything still works and installs the same way. Unless you're worried about weight or resell (sell the car and new owner wants to change things up in the trans and get a surprise when it has a B18C diff/RG) , then there is no need to have them exchange it.

I don't plan to try and sell it anytime soon so I think I should be good. Thanks again.

From what KIWI has told me, the next ring gears will be drilled for BOTH bolt patterns, thus no longer a Diff issue.

Don't think that will work too well. The ID of the ring gear needs to contact the diff so when used on B18C/B16B diffs, it wouldn't.
