Machining wrist pin lock grooves into CTR pistons for forged rods?
Alright I bouhgt a set of forged rods not realizing that aftermarket rods use a floating wrist pin unlike the CTR pistons that use a wrist pin that is pressed into the rod so I need to know if anybody knows of some machine shops that can cut a groove into my pistons for the wrist pin locks. I'm willing to have them shipped off to have the work done.
Another option would be to use "buttons" to hold the wrist pin in place.
Here's an example http://www.vwparts.net/mm5/merchant....&Category_Code=
But I'm not sure how they would hold up in a daily driven motor.
Thanks

for the price of the machine work your almost better off getting aftermarket pistons which will be better anyways
I believe they are these:http://www.cprparts.com/products/rod...cpr_honda.html
But are you sure about that? If so I might be just getting another set of rods then.

I would but the rods have already been milled to fit the pistons and I'm already setup to use the CTR pistons which I also have already purchased so I'll use the stock rods before I get a new set of pistons.

Also has anyone ever used teflon "buttons" to hold the wrist pin in. Looks like its used in racing applications but what about daily driven?

i am wondering this also bc i have ealge rods and am about to order my ctr pistons nad its going to suck if i cant use the 1000 dollar rods and crank i have bc of that i blew my money on the ballin *** rods and crnk so i could get ctr's, i knew about milling them down but not about the wrist pin. i emailed eagle asking them just waitin on a responce
Forged rods and CTR pistons are not a great combination. Try to save up and get wiseco pistons. They are one of the cheaper brands with very good consistency in terms of diameter, weight, and finish.
im not wanting to blow another 600 700 on pistons when i dont have to do to get the comp i want u know.
What about the RS machine pistons. They have the wrist pin lock groove dont they?? They shouldn't cost you much at all. I believe they sell stock bore for less than $200 a set. I believe they even have CTR pistons.
Email our sales at sales@exospeed.com Let us know what kind of pistons. We can get the non-floating pistons machined to take floating pins.

Well for me I picked up a set of I-beams for pretty cheap otherwise I'd use the stock ones and get some ARP's, also I would get a set of new pistons BUT my I-beams have already been milled to fit the CTR's so I'm in a bit of a pickle.
its $128 for the machining of OEM pistons to accept floating pins and locks. that includes the spiral locks also.
yeah would like to know this also,bc that will still put it below buying a set of forged pistons, i might just use my stock b16 rods with arp bolts
