Default Integra RPM gauge doesn't work, any solutions?

I have a 1997 Integra GSR that got stolen. I put in a used 1996 type r jdm cluster (the original one got stolen) and when I start the car, the rpm doesn't work, but the speed gauge does. Do you guys have any clue what the problem is? I tested the cluster in my friends integra and it works fine, both rpm, gauge, etc...so now i'm unsure what to do next. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Check your fuses. thats what mine turned out to be, even though i thought I had checked them. i got pulled over and went to walmart and bought a fuse for it. get your fuse diagram, find which fuse controls parking lights/cluster or something like that. replace it.

dont know if you sovled your problem yet but 94-01 clusters work with eachother but... if the green film on the back of the cluster isnt from the spec. year of the car it aint gonna work. 94-97 has to have the green flm from a 94-97 cluster. 98-01 has to have a green flm from 98-01. you can easyly swap them out, but in your case the 97 should work with a 96... make sure it is.. off a 96 cluster. hope this helps.

i had the same issue on my 97 ls integra, i changed the distributor to a gsr and now it works perfect. check your distributor and the coil, sometimes changing the coil fixes the problem, but that dosent always work because thats a sign the dist is goin bad and your going to go thru coil after coil and in the end u need another dist. i tried several coils and my car ran but kept doing the same, even with a NEW coil but as soon as i changed the dist the prob was COMPLETELY solved. good luck, see if someone has a dist in the area and try it on before u spend crazy money.
