just over the last few days my tach started saying it was hitting the rev limiter at 7600 and the rev limiter is set for 8600 now it started hitting the rev limiter at 6500 but the car is still super strong and sounds like its goin to 8600.. the tach doesnt bounce around or anything untill it hits the rev limiter like its supposed to.. ive tested the coil and icm and they r both fine.. anybody have this problem? ive searched and most common response is icm but car runs great.. also i found that the vss was loose but i tightened it and it still did it so i put a different one in and it still did the same thing

 

is it a factory cluster tach or aftermarket?

 

stock si cluster, no cel

 

so is the engine actually not revving past 6500 or is the tach just stopping at 6500 while the engine keeps revving higher??

 

just the tach but the engine sounds like its going to 8600

aftermarket ecu? check your oil.
