Winter Tire Size
Hey Guys,
I want to know what you guys are running for your winter tires. I am debating between 215/45/17 and 205/55/16. The 16's will save me 420.00CAD on the tires alone, but my current summer tire is the stock 215/45/17.
Thanks

those 2 tires are not interchangeable...one is for a 16" rim and the other a 17" rim..Do you have another set of rims for winter? I am using my factory rims and running Blizzak's 215/45/17s (stock tire size)..Blizzak's FTW
I'm running 16" Nokiians on their own wheels. In general, a narrower tire is supposed to give better traction in snow. Just make sure the 16" tires you want are the equivalent rolling size as your 17s, assuming your 17's are correct for your car to begin with. Tire Rack has a size calculator on their site.

I was saying that I bought real rims (instead of steelies) so the car doesn't look like dirt. I had steelies on my old car and from November-April it was depressing to look at
<<<Rocks whatever performance all-season I have on the car at the time winter rolls around. Honestly, anything that my Proxes 4s can't get me through, I probably shouldn't be driving a lowered Civic through.
mine has to pass the test of driving into the heart of Quebec so I don't mind spending some money on good tires. The wheels are just for my enjoyment
If you are from the Bay Area, then you don't know what it's like to drive in the snow with performance rubber
I remember going down a very steep hill, one winter, on a set of summer only tires. My ABS never stopped the whole way down...in fact, the ABS computer thought something was wrong and threw a code! (never did check to see what it was....that was 10 years ago with my old EJ Coupe).
The winter we had in NW Indana last year was one of the worst we had had in decades. I thanked my snow tires every day. My wife is now a firm believer after we bought her a set of Blizzaks for her Altima.
Having the confidence to get where your going is very important. Unless you are running a good all season tire, one that can handle winter, you should consider a set of snow tires.
As for the size, I run a 205 55 16 W300 Icebear Hankook tire. It's more of a "performance" snow tire. I have them on steelies. I'll post a pic when I get home. It does make the car look like a beater...the best thing to do is try and keep them clean

I'm rockin the stocks this winter. They're already pretty worn out, should be interesting. I try not to drive in the snow too much, anyways.
Pickin up some new wheels/performance tires this spring.

honestly there is nothing like a set of relatively skinny winter tires on any car in even the slightest slush and snowcover. i used to run the old winterforce m+s on my old hatch and the confidence they inspire is second to none. braking, turning, accelerating...made life so much easier.
having the steelies with those tires on it was such a relief whenever the weather was poor. i wished i had gotten them sooner. luckily we've had some pretty mild winters recently with only a few days of hardcore snow fall each season, and now it doesn't matter anyway as the only thing i drive in any sort of weather is my trusty '87 montero!

Hey I have a set of wheels/snows for a friend's 05 RSX. She just moved out to San Fran, and I just bought an 02 Forester. My job: sell the wheels/snows to earn money for my Subie's snows. I need help!!!
Never done this before.
#1. I want to see what cars the wheels will fit so I can sell them.
They are Special Edition D5's 16"
#2. I need to see if the tires on the wheels can fit the wheels currently on my Subie.
The RSX tire size is 205/55-16
The Subie tire size is 215/60-16
Alright, I can get the specs on the RSX wheels, if needed, such as offset and whatever. However, this is as far as my knowledge goes. I know absolutely nothing about what can fit what, or even where to find what can fit what.
So, anyone? A penny for my cause?
P.S.
Oh, I also forgot to mention. I have a set of Michelin X-Ice xI-2 snows for the car I sold to get my Subie, a 95 Ford Escort wagon. These tires are brand new, two months of use, maybe a thousand miles on them.
Size 175/65-14
If any information is out there on these as well, I will be selling them too. Thanks!
