i have a friend who has an 89 civic with a d16 out of a 1st gen integra, he is having problems with his timing advance, if i am not mistaken it is a vacuum advance and im wondering if there is a way to bypass this, or is there an easy fix? any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

best bet is to find the honda service manual that covers that specific engine. it will give you enough information to get everything working.

A D16A3 is like the butt ugly sister of the DOHC ZC whom got locked in the basment and never let out.

As to my knowledge A D16A3 (88-89 integ) engine Share the same Distributor as a DOHC ZC which is a mechanicle Dizzy. Can you post up pics of this Vacuum advance that you speak of? 86-87 civic accords and crx's have alot of fun Vacuum lines. But I dont imagine anybody swapping one of those into an EF.
