immobilizer?!
honda-tech
ok so I got a 97 EL. and it had a dead battery so i reconnected the charged batter and hopped into the car and tried to start it. the alarm went off and its honking and honking and I frantically try to start the car with the key in the ignition. but that didnt work so i open the door with the key and it works and the alarm is gone. but now the clutch feels really shitty. i think the car is immobilize mode cause it won't turnover it tries but it just doesn't. whats going on with it?!

charge the battery a little longer if that dont work replace it sounds like you just have a weak battery if it's been sitting for a long time its probably sulfated meaning replace it. iv never heard of an immobilizer mode espicially on honda's there is a safety switch on newer cars that sense oil pressure and if none is present then the ecu wont let you start it. the alarm thing you just need to disarm it. which it sounds like you already did. so try charging the battery or replace it if it doesnt take a charge
It doesn't have an immobilizer (the only USDM/CDM Honda/Acura to have an immobilizer in '97 was the Prelude) And hondas, at least in '97 didn't have any sort of low oil shutdown protection. Check for fuel and fire and go from there.
