torque on crankshaft pulley
After a bit of a nightmare trying to remove the crankshaft pulley bolt, while changing the timing belt, I'm puzzled as to why it has a torque spec. of 134ft/lb ?On a pulley with splines and a key, what is the chance of anything loosening? My experience with V8 engines has been that the torsional damper to crankshaft bolt usually gets between 60/90 ft/lb. Any thoughts or opinions?
I shall follow your advice and do it right. On the same subject, timing belt, my Haynes manual gives me a diagram for setting the camshaft, which says to line up the horizontal marks on the sprocket with the surface of the cylinder head (D15B7). The diagram shows those marks offset slightly forward, toward the rad. If I use a steel square set on the cylinder head, and line up the marks eqally, would I be correct?
