Default Rear skinnies just for looks???

I want the polished skinnies for the rear of my CRX but man they are expensive if they are purely for looks.

Right now I am running 08 Fit wheels on the rear. If anything it seems like skinnies on the rear would make the car less stable.

I would like to know how they feel going down the track. I have ran skinnies on the front of my 5.0 but the purpose was to pull the front wheels off the ground on the launch.

skinnys are good at weight reduction and less drag (contact patch) not just "looking cool"

I am sure the 3k in drag suspension had alot more to do with pulling the tires. Big weight difference between 17X9 street wheels and 15X3.5 drag wheels in the front smart guy. I am sorry to hear you think weight bias doesnt matter.

Man it sure doesnt. I am sure I could have dropped in some 4.56 gears and big redneck slicks and pulled the wheels with stock suspension.

It just so happens I had that 5.0 forever and had a very nice consistant set-up that won on raceday. I was pulling 1.58-1.63 60fts forever and never pulled the wheels. I set a goal to pull the wheels just for the hell of it. Relocating the battery to the rear and running skinnies up front was just enough to get a little air under the tires.

But whatever.

He can be, but I just noticed where he's from (lately). Our beloved DaveF must be having a bad day.

In your case, I'd say the skinnies would be just for looks.

to the op. you usually pick up some mph in the end. might have something to do with the 8lb loss rule too; 8lbs of rotating mass equaling 100 lbs of dead weight.

Thanks for a post that was on topic and useful.

With the low torque these Honda motors make weight reduction is crucial. I just wanted to make sure the rear skinnies didnt make the car feel weird on the big end.

I dont think that rule would apply to the non-powered wheels though.

Thanks for the insight Dave.

well if you trapping anywhere like 135+ you gotta be careful when letting off or hitting the brakes. car lifts easy and can get outta control since there barely any contact. ive seen a few crashes cause of that issue.

Dial in some negative camber in the rear, and the car shouldn't feel too bad.
