91 accord no start/no spark?
hows it going guys i gotta 91 accord lx just bought, broke down 2nd day i drove it. throwning dtc 8, crank/tdc sensor. sensor is inside distributor housing, i put a junk yard dizzzy on and a brand new dizzy,still same problem. i swaped out a ecu, still same. any suggestions please will be appreciated. thanks in advance
We have a 90 Accord at my work with the same problem. Customer stated it just died driving down the road. Now it cranks, but no start. Replaced the distributor twice. There is power and ground to the ignitor, there is a signal for the crank/tdc sensor, and the coil is good. We have voltage in the cap but not in the spark plug wires. Put different wires on, still same problem. Ignition switch was replaced a year ago, plus two coils within the last year.

I'm in the same boat as well - 93 LX. Was driving normal, parked it for a few hours, then wouldnt start. It just clicks, no crank at all, not throwing any codes. So far Ive only checked battery and its fine, Im going to the dizzy and starter next. Post up your progress, would appreciate it.
Update: I got the starter tested 5 consecutive times and it tested good/passed. I cleaned up the battery terminals, tested battery, checked ignition switch, checked grounds, checked related fuses, and still no crank. (fuel is half full, relay clicks, pump primes, and no CEL's) THEN, I pulled the dizzy cap to see if the rotor turns while I spin the crank; rotor turns with crank/cam, so timing belt is intact. After spinning the crank manually about a quarter turn, she started right up, and idled great, no knocks, no smoke, no nothing. Started right up twice after.
Question: Does this mean my dizzy and/or the TDC position sensor located inside the dizzy is going bad? Any other reasons why after spinning the crank just a tad would make her start up? If timing was off, wouldnt the idle be pretty funky?

Well we got the honda at our shop running again. New distributor cap. My boss thinks it was cracked or defective.
guymosiris- Maybe the timing belt is loose or something. That's weird. I work in a shop, but I am still learning as I go. So I don't know everything. Sorry.

highazamotha, try spinning the crank by hand one revolution, then try to start. If you replaced the dizzy and the ecu and the code is still there, reset your ecu and it should go away. Also you can unplug the 8-pin dizzy connector and check resistance between the TDC terminals (should be between 260-500 ohms) then check for continuity, and measure resistance on ecu side. Dizzy wire colors associated with TDC are orangle/blue and white/blue and ecu terminals B13 and B14. It might just be a wiring problem
Check to see if there is oil sitting inside the spark plug cylinder. I had the same problem once and ended up having to replace the valve cover seal and spark plug wires. Car wasn't getting a spark.
Might be kinda hard to see, but in the middle of the 3 diagrams, its the middle connector with B13 and B14 located on the second to the right top and bottom. Wire colors are the same as stated before orangle/blue and white/blue

Remove the distributor cap and rotor. Grasp the end of the distributor shaft and move it side to side. If there is more then the smallest amount of movement, it will probably need to be replaced.
Also, a common problem with no spark is a bad main relay, check it.

Any verdict on the main relay? i have had a no start problem intermittently - usually after I have driven the car. it will usually start back up after some effort. yesterday, for the first time, it died while i was driving. No sputtering or anything - just died and Check Eng light came on. Everything I have read keep mentioning the dizzy and the main relay. Since you replaced the dizzy twice, i'm wondering how testing/replacing the main relay worked for you.
Honestly that's a really easy fix. Take the spark plug wires out (just make sure you keep them in order), unscrew the 4 grommets, take out the pcv valve, and the cover should come off with a pry of the screwdriver. I don't know the labor cost, i did mine in about 30 mins. Its something you should do eventually. The seal costs like 15-20 bucks.
