Hey guys i just got a base model 4 speed 90 civic hatch. It has the 1.5 in it. What 5 spd tranny can i swap in with little effort? I NEED THAT 5TH GEAR. lol

really? is it a simple drop and swap? or do i need more parts to mate the motor and tranny?

get an si transmission. it'll wake that thing up pretty good.

 

don't use an 88, I believe the input shaft is different so you'd have to change over to an 88 style disc to complete the swap.

89-91 DX or Si trans would be a straight swap over.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't his knuckles different as well? it's been a while since I've done any D-series stuff
