Ground strip. Pretty much grounds the chassis.

I think it was a short lived fan boy trend.

It's a ground strap it's to get rid of the static in the radio I think that's what it's for again

Wouldnt they wear out pretty fast? You would think so if your cruising on the highway, that the road would just eat it up.

it grounds your chassis so your car doesnt shock you when you close your door.

im just guessing, but if its for the whole cold weather shock thing, then maybe that flap in the middle makes it lift while your driving

scrolled down and looked for the correct answer. didnt see a single one.

it IS a ground strap. it IS jdm. about 80% of the cars in japan have them. no, not the sportscars you see all the time, but real commuter cars.

their primary purpose is because japanese people seem to think your car might explode at the gas pump from static electricity. about half of the packages you see say it right on them. gas pumps in japan have a big plastic "hand" on them as well. this is where you touch your hand, to ground yourself out.

they are about 2 dollars. and almost every single one of them is non-fucntional because after a few months, they no longer touch the ground.

i once saw a "performance" model that hooks to your exhaust. lol.

its only a fanboy thing in the USA because thats where you see them. fanboy cars on the internet. in every other country in teh world, tis just a common everyday item you see on a commuter car.

They used to be hot in norway in the 80's. Here, people had them to prevent static and the little shock spark thing you can get from touching your body-work while getting out of the car.

Looks pretty ugly imo.
