ok peeps- just finish my h22 swap in my 96 accord coupe-have a quick question- i got the obd2 piggyback to a obd1 lude ecu. i need to get my car inspected in the dmv in jersey. can dmv run codes in my obd2 connecto with my obd1 ecu or do i need a obd2 ecu- i dont ahve scanner handy- hope anyone can help thanks...
I hate to tell you, but you should have wired it full bore OBD2. Most inspections require readiness tests. OBD1 does not support that type of program. Use a ECU from a 96 Prelude H22. These ECUs are OBD2 and are not immobilizer locked.
Do you know if there is a difference between the OB1 engine and the OB2 egine (H22A)? I know that the F22b2 94 and the F22b2 97 for example have the crank sensor in different locations if I'm correct. The OB1 has the sensor at the cam and the OB2 has it at the crank and cam. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Depends on the state. Some just check for a CEL and will scan after that, no CEL, no scan.
But an OBD2 scanning tool will not function with a OBD1 ECU in an OBD2 car. It'll report no communication. The ECU 92civlude is referring to is quite rare to come by. I would call your inspection station and verify exactly what they need to do for it to pass. My state doesn't even require an OBD2 scan for inspection.

It wont work if its a Vtec, using a non Vtec ecu...when they put in your car info the codes wont match up,with there computer. If it reads it at all.
