d16 Tranny Differential ?s
Just got an si/ ex tranny for my ej1. [my coupe is an ex and theres a dx trans in it for some reason.. ]
So before i just dropped it in i took it apart to check the syncros so i dont have any damn grinding action goin on.
Everything look good until i got to my diff... the housing where the pin sits is cracked.. and badly. so now i have an issue..
Does anyone have or no how to get another diff?
Does anyone no if i can put my dx's diff in the si/ ex tranny? and if diff ring gear have the same amount of teeth on the si/ ex? [70]
Any help/ info will be highly apprecitated<3

the ex's use 40 mm diff bearings, dx etc use 35 mm or something smaller. i also have 2 stock ex differentials, one with ring gear and speedo, and one that is bare. 30 for the bare, 40 for the one with the ring gear etc. OBO. PM me.

sorry i dont have a deff answer for you, i know you can swap some gears over to create a better ratio for your setup, but im not sure if you can swap the whole stack strait in. the other thing to consider, mfactory are the only ones that make an aftermarket diff for the 35mm housing, everything is for the ex trans, so think about that if you plan on upgrading, because availability would be better for 40mm parts.
You can change the complete stacks over, but you'll need to shim the mainshaft. This takes about $250 worth of tools to do.
The MFactory 35mm LSD is on pre-order right now. If anyone needs more info on it, PM me.

or you could just swap the final drive into the Dx and have basically the same damn gears. Considering that the Dx and EX have the same ratios except for 2nd gear and final drive. The 2nd on the Ex is a little shorter.
'But how do you install a Dif into the tranny? is it hard to do? because I want to get one of those OBD-R LSD's for my tranny (DX) but idk how to put it in and I dont want to send it out to do it because i dont want the car to have any real downtime.

Wrong. EX 2nd is 1.909/1.900, DX is 1.761/1.781. EX 3rd is 1.250, DX is 1.172. Those are big differences.
DX drops 357 more RPM going into 2nd, 10 RPM more going into 3rd, and 354 less RPM going into 4th.
With the EX 4.250 FD, the DX tops out at 36, 65, 99, 128, 166
The EX tops out at 36, 61, 93, 128, 166
The only advantage the DX with EX FD has is 4th will accelerate faster when shifted into from 3rd, from a 4th/4th roll, they will accelerate the same.
If racing from a stop, the EX trans will win, as the DX trans (even with 4.250) is going to be significantly slower in 2nd.
OBX doesn't make a LSD for the small bearing cases (A000), only MFactory does.

How much does a MFactory LSD cost?
