so are they all clear... or just the brake light. i got pulled over and the cop said the turn signal is supposed to be amber. But when i asked kragen to give me the stock lighting they told me it was clear signals. Im really confused and cant afford to get pulled over right now.

but yes the "law" dictates that all signal lights should be amber. but iv never been pulled over for it. that cop musta been a d-bag or just wanted some tickets.

 

if you have the 99-00 Lights the bulbs that come in those are amber. And you need to replace it with amber bulbs.

To add on to this:
Rear turn signals can be from amber to red.
Front turn signals can be from white to amber.

"From amber to red" means that any shade in between the two is legal.

The reason many people think white front turn signals are illegal is because they have cars that use the same bulb for both the front turn signal and the front side marker lamp. Front side marker lamps must be amber. So if the same bulb is used for both, it must be amber.

The part I really don't understand about auto lamp laws is that amber bulbs are legal to use, but red bulbs are not. For red light, you need to use a clear bulb behind a red diffuser (like OEM brake lights).

So, if your taillamps are clear plastic for the turn signal, you need to use an amber bulb. If they are amber plastic, you can use either a clear or amber bulb (but clear would be better). If they are red plastic, you need to use a clear bulb.

A clear bulb under clear plastic in the back is illegal, as no white light (other than the plate lamps and reverse lamps) can be visible in the rear of the vehicle.

 

the op hasn't stated if they have oem or aftermarket lights which will make a difference which ones they're using. I know 96-98 all the lights turn/brake/reverse are clear because the lenses are red/yellow but 99-00 they are red/clear which take an amber bulb, 4 doors take clear bulbs like 96-98.

therefore you want the 1157a which a stands for amber.
