When reinstalling the inards of the fitv after cleaning, how important is the depth at which it is set?

 

what do you mean depth?

 

The plastic body that screws into the casting appears to be able to turn in deeper than where it was. I don't understand whether this could affect the operation.

 

dont change it from where it was. But I dont think it would affect operation.

 

lots of write-ups about this.. most say put it back were you found it.. but some have found their screw backed completely out on its own.. I think i remember most saying a turn or 2 back out from the bottom... but not sure

 

i screwed mine all the way down. it just doesn't idle as high when its cold. no big deal since its warm out for now. i may unscrew it once or twice just to have it warm up faster in the winter.

 

I always screw them all the way in.
