asking for a buddy of mine with a vw who is on tek3, does anyone know if we can run boost by gear on it and if so can he run the aem boost cylinoid?

back when i had tec on my car there wasnt too many options, and they were an hour down the road.

since the TEC did not have boost control, i ended up buying an AMS-1000 and eventually an AEM ecu lol

 

how do you like he AMS-1000?

 

love it. if your ecu can not do boost control, its the only option. ams-1000 is probably one of the most popular thing we sell

boost by gear is switched by manifold pressure drop?

 

usually most ecu's use a calculation of vss and rpm to determine the gear. other boost control units will use a clutch switch. the ams-1000 you can either use a clutch switch, a gear position sensor, or how we set them all up is based off of a built in timer.

 

so i guess the timer is he best way to set it up..
i was also told that you need to run a co2 bottle on the top of the waistgate or it doesnt work properly! is this true?

 

you dont have to, but its suggested.

 

I am testing their boost by MPH right now. I was using 2 of the GPO to control 3 stages of boost via the E boost and switched at certain mph. That work great for me.
