mini-me help!! coolent leak!
i have a d15b7 block with a d16y8 head and i got a new (non oem) head gasket thats three layers of metal..im leaking coolent from the rear left between the block and head..ehat do i do? do i get a non metal gasket? do i put glue in the metal head gasket? help please
What head bolts/ studs did you use? Did you use 9 D15B7 head bolts, and 1 '96-'00 D-series head bolt, or did you use all B7 head bolts, or all '96-'00 head bolts?
well i fixed the colent leak today by putting silicone on the head gasket but now (I just discovered) my fuel injector for my third cylinder is leaking..its like its not even in the fuel rail all the way but it is..any ideas?
Putting the head in can be slighlty misleading. Sometimes when all looks like good from the front end you may have a small gap in the back. You might want to think about checking for any needed readjustments while simoltaniously checking your block bolts especially if you have reused the ones that were already in there before you took the head out. I have used the gasket you are talking about and would recomend the one you have now over the OEM model. I can assure you that the silicone will only act as a band-aid.
As far as the leak from the injectors you might want to check for any damage to the injector itself, but this problem might be fixed if you replaced the rubber grommets on the injector.

oh sweet i thought i would have to buy a new injectors or injectors...where would i get that seal? and i took my head off about 4-5 times doing this project and im using the same head bolts..is that bad? is that why im leaking? hahaha
As the head is leaking, get new bolts. In addition, your torque to 55-lb-ft was too tight. Follow the diagram precisely. Were the head and block mating surfaces checked for warping?
The old bolts are likely stretched and deformed, which may prevent them from achieving proper torque and seal. I would recommend that you purchase new bolts, oil the threads, and torque them down EXACTLY as shown in the diagram.
sounds like ur haveing alot of problems if i were u i would go pick up a Y7 block its way better for a mini me in my opinion but thats me i have a Z6 and was going to do what ur doing but with my head but saw too many probs so the Y7 or if ur even smarter the A6 is the way to go but once again thats just me and either way good luck i like seeing ppl with love for the D ill have to post my build soon mini me with .....ITBs
