running rich.. what o2 sensor do i need
i have an eg with a 97 gsr swap in it.. my mechanic did not put the o2 sensors in ... i need to buy them and get em in asap the car is running rich ans hell and smoking like crazy.. do i get a 3 or 4 wire unheated/heated, and which is a good one?
i bought a gsr at auction price and parted it out quickly as possible to help payt for the swap. i sold the full cat back with the sensors on it and my mechanic knew i was trying to take the cheap route so he didnt mention anything..
good way to loose a good motor man
no its not. don't be stupid. you can run a motor without O2 sensors. plenty of people do it.
Original Poster. jsut look up on acuraoemparts.com for a 97 gsr and see which O2 sensors you need the important one is the one before the catalytic converter, the one past the cat is not as important. Both could probably be picked up at a junkyard for cheap.

I paid $40 a piece for NTK/NGK O2 sensors, last time I needed them. They even came with the OEM pigtails, no wire splicing or soldering involved.
Check E-Bay, your local Auto Parts stores, ETC.

well its not yours and i know of people including myself who have run swaps for YEARS without o2 sensors and tuned ecu's that have ZERO issues. im talking like 70-80,000 miles with no problems. he's only running it like this for a couple weeks tops. For an ASE master tech you're pretty naive.

People may run with a O2 sim or no O2 for the 2nd position O2 (after cat), but running without the primary O2 is pointless. The primary O2 is the only one that affects gas mileage.
What is one good reason to run without the primary O2 sensor?
-The .25lb weight loss?
-The reduction in need for wrenches in your toolbox?
-The convenience of not having to screw it in?
-The ability to make a home made header from pipes that you bolted together with U-clamps?
-A "cleaner look" for the underside of your car?
-The hatred for things that have the letter "O" and the number "2" in them?
- besides those reasons..another good reason? Insert reason here.
OP: www.sparkplugs.com. Look up your model specifically. You probably need a 4 wire. I find that they have the best prices. Or look on Amazon.com once you have sensor part numbers.
The sensor for a 98 EX seems to be cheaper than the other ones on sparkplugs.com. Not sure why. It should fit fine on a GSR the connectors are the same, IIRC. The sensor def. screws in. I just bought a NGK ready to plug in sensor for like $45 on Amazon.com for my 99 Si. So you can go that route as well.
I'd definately go with either NGK or Denso for the sensors.

??? seriously? People run engines without O2 sensors? Street engines? Do they enjoy getting shitty gas mileage for no reason?

So because a bunch of people do something, that means it works? It means we should all follow suit?
Plenty of people kill themselves every year too. Anyone who suggests running a closed loop fuel injection system without a primary oxygen sensor should follow suit.
Oh, the irony . . .

does anyone know offhand what color the wires are for the 02 sensor and if the connector is still there where would it b in the engine bay. im only putting in the 1st one b4 the cat.
thanks
thanks
should be part of engine harness under intake manifold area, grey plug 4 wires black, black yellowand 2 whites I believe. You dont need secondary sensor just 4 emissions tells ecu cat is working. But if you want to eliminate mil light I sugest obd1 ecu or o2 simulator
ok i got a blach, yellow, white and green connection. comes out right behind the motor. i order the oem connection 95 bucks from autozone... waiting for it to get here
fingers are crossed. i ordered wires and a dam distributor.. wen i got to the shop we checked the wireas and loss spark. im gonna write an update tonite.

What ECU are you running?
Here: You can get a denso plug in for the same cost as your Autozone sensor.

You could have chosen a NGK universal for $30, but you'd have to find a connector. You can go to a junkyard and find one from a EG.
I find it weird that you only have 3 wires. What model is your EG?
