Apparently these guys have discovered that by cutting grooves into the cylinder heads, they've been allowed to run higher compression ratios because there is less detonation than before hand. Is anyone on this forum familiar with such a procedure? I know that this technique seems to be done on 2 Valve engines but I was thinking that it could be done to 4 valve engines as well though because I don't know anything about this, I was hoping some people could chime in with what they know about this.

from the best I can tell from a quick reading, they cut the grooves into the quench pad to disturb the nitrogen from the oxygen to get a better burn.....there seems to be plenty of into here

to me it seems those little sharp points on the edge of the cuts would cause more detonation....then again I gues they are going for fuel economy, not power
