D15B w/D16Z6 head. Custom timing question???????????
I have a (88-91) D15B block with a (92-95) D16Z6 head. Now from what Im told on the streets, this setup requires a custom timing job. My homeboy told me the timing for this setup is really hard to crack. Does anyone know the required timing point for this setup? Please keep all negative post out of this thread.
u might just have to go old school and read up on how to correctly time an engine without the timing marks all over the place. It has to do with lining up the valves on #1 cyl I believe to be exactly at the same lift or something on one of the strokes. Im sure you can do a little searching on google and figure it out quick.
you either need A) a d16y8 cam gear, or B) an adjustable cam gear for the z6 set to ~4.5 degrees advance.
you are compensating for the slight deck height difference on the 15 vs the 16. the y8 cam gear comes offset from honda, so the keyweigh is already ~4.5 degrees off from the factory.
the z6 cam gear keyweigh is at 0 degrees TDC, so the stock gear won't work. The y8 gear is the cheap way to go, but if you want the bling factor, then the adjustable z6 gear set advanced 4.5 is the way to go.
