Default Skunk2 Short shift adapter for dummies

Well this morning I woke up and went into work, also to install my newly purchased Skunk2 short shift adapter.

Installation was a breeze, I had a problem though. I could only get into gears 1,3,5, I couldn't get into gears 2,4,6 & reverse. Their is a clearance problem, the added 1" from the adapter lowers the shift linkage 1", therefor when moving the gear lever towards you, the linkage hits the shift assembly bracket.

The only way I can see to make it work is drill out a 1"x1"x4" space in the shift assembly bracket for there to be enough clearance with the adapter.

I'm under the impression theirs only one adapter for 06+ Civic Si"s, right?

Sooo, has anybody had this problem before?

I have a feeling you might not have it on all of the way. When I first installed my Corsport SS, I ran into the identical problem. I took it all back apart and discovered it was hitting, and that the adapter wasn't as far on as it could be. Make sure you loosen the set screws so they aren't sticking into the "inside" of the adapter when you look at the adapter from the open side. Then, push it all of the way on there as far as it will go before you tighten the set screws. Also make sure you tighten them evenly. Start one side a lil, then move to the other side, and go back and forth until it is fully tightened. This will ensure the adapter mounts flush on there.

Are you sure you put on the correct spot? There are two pivots that you can see when you take out your console. One on the driver's side of the shifter and one underneath/behind the shifter. Make sure you are mounting it on the bottom one.

Make sure you put a dab of Loctite on each of the set screws. They came loose on my Corsport a couple times and caused the adapter to come loose while driving. That made for some interesting travels stuck in first gear (or whatever gear) until I could get to a place to fix it.

Lastly, if none of the above works, don't cut or drill anything. I have a couple buddies that have the S2 SS and it works like a charm. If yours doesn't when installed correctly, something is wrong and you need to get the correct one.

I've heard of this before, normally from not properly seating the SS properly like 2008fijibluesi said. I just paid more and got the Mugen assembly from KMS.

Word.

I thought it was seated correctly, but maybe it wasn't. Didn't have time to figure it out, so I just reassembled it and got my car out quick.I deal with it whenever I feel like. This is what happens when I multi task, I **** up.
