ORD Massive GSR Intake Works for B16 Head and ORD Custom Header (2.2L All Motor)
we do some massive works in GSR Intake Manifold to be a short runner + huge plenum Racing IM.
Maybe some kinda Ericks Racing Old Style GSR Intake
This was for my old 2.2L b series 86x95 14:1 CR with Pro 3 (last time hp was 311whp with weber 50mm carbies, we have the thread on h-t).
Its still the quickest all motor and the biggest all motor 4 cyl whp in my country...
So Now was the exiciting time for more experience..

this is the results of the works
short 140mm Runner length with tappered style
huge cc volume in the plenum (arround 2000cc + volume)

this was matted with Edelbrock 76mm TB
actually we have also reworked Victor X manifold,
but its just for research, it having huger plenum volume from victor x, and the runner was in the same lenght with tappered runner style (this gsr modified entry runner was bigger in the inlet).
if it was the similar whp we got from the victor x, we could accept it for our next im, since it was so excotic stock external engine look.
and another one is the header

its rmf style look, but different primaries diameter and lenght...
the fabrication works was done by ORD Engineering.... (yeahh 4 sure no one of u know it :p )

oh ya, the GSR IM bolt mount was modified (rewelded and new bolt position) to mated smoothly in for the B16 inlet port..

the upper side of the IM that we eliminated everythings inside it... so its become a pure plenum

Let me get this right. GSR intake manifold on B16 head.
You’re going to have transition issues with the air flow. If you notice the intake port angle of the B16 head and the GSR manifold are at different angles. This angle change might hold back some power potential.
As for the Erick’s Racing from what I remember I thought it was a P72 head.

I guess I am gettting old. Can't remember things like I used to.
It was in an magazine back in the late 90's. I tossed them all when I moved in the house.
Maybe I remember more than I thought. The article I remember wasn't the 9 sec car, it was before the 9 sec car. I also remember seeing pictures of the intake, they looked very similar to the ones above.

yes, eric was on B16 head, its PR3, but once i also viewing a photo when he was on gsr head...
i forgot when i look at the photo.. i'll try to find the link..
about the transition issue, yes the angle was different when gsr im was steep high angle, the b16 head was straigth trhu from the im..
but i modded also the gsr im flange... and do lot port work on it
so the flow would be smoothly blended into pr3 inlet port entrance
anyway, it just a trial, if it make more power than my victor x so be it.. if it was the same with victor x, i accept it (exotic look :D ), even tough it would loose 5-6hp i still accept it, since i using stock coil, stock spark plug wire... 300whp stock external look is so cool...
but i think the engine characteristic would be very different since the average runner diameter was lot bigger than the victor x.. it was tappered to 50mm height 55mm width at the entrance...
maybe it would be more peaky powerband than the victor x
no wonder why erics racing peaked @ 9500-10000 and shiftin 11K like crazy....

oh ya , and the massive plenum volume would be weak for low n mid range.. it was arround 200cc more volume than victor x

Didn't Erick's Run Toda D VTEC killer cams. Very high peak. How do PRO3's compare?
i'm using pro 3 when in carbed was not as peaky as eric powerband, so im sure it was Ericks Crazy GSR IM that make his motor was peaked like motor cycle....

Loosing 20 hp from ported ITR manifold...
sigh : loose lot of money and labor on that stuff
(i do search and find a guys loose 40cfm by doing this from stock GSR manifold)
not flown yet.. but the result tell this work i done failed !!

can you take out the spacer and effectivly reduce MASSIVE plenum size, maybe

maybe erick did'nt shorten his runners THAT much, consider

looked promising but HUGE plenum and shortshort runners where a bit to much
yeah, i dont flow it yet. but just using simple copying victor X runner lenght and plenum volume with the shape of gsr manifold.. but it didnt work like victor X....
