Default turn signals and horn don't work on 1993 Civic SI

Greetings all.

This is my first post after lurking for a bit. Please bear with me.

I own a 1993 Honda Civic SI hatchback. It was stolen back in January, and the perp had started modifying it before he was caught. I had the car "unmodified" by a local autosports shop that specializes in Hondas.

Long story short. I have just completed the process of getting my car legal to drive again, and now the turn signals and horn don't work. I don't know if they ever worked after the modification or unmodification. I'm looking for help on how to troubleshoot this problem.

Having searched the boards and looked through the FAQs, I haven't been able to find anything on point.

Here's a little more info:

- the hazards work fine
- when I try to turn on the turn signals, I get neither the dash light indicators nor the turn signals themselves
- there is no clicking sound when I press the horn buttons. I get nothing.
- I have an OEM steering wheel with SRS. The perp had removed the SRS and replaced the original wheel with a racing mod. The unmodification shop replaced them with a unit that I bought thru Honda-Tech

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Have you checked fuse 15 (dash) and 42 (hood).

For turn signals, check both the turn signal switch and the hazard switch.

If you run a wire from the battery to the horn, does it work?

The rain and flooding in Atlanta prevented me from working on my car for quite a while, and I ultimately decided to have the work done by a professional in order to get it behind me. Thanks for the help on this thread.

Just to close the loop, here's what the pros at OPM Autosports determined.

1. The turn signals were a simple cable issue. A connector had become damaged and disconnected. OPM fixed the damage and reconnected it.

2. The horn was a small part of a more complicated issue. It turned out that the steering wheel that I had put on the car was not configured for cruise control even though the car is configured for cruise control. The clock springs in a non-cruise wheel are different from the clock springs in a cruise wheel, and that difference messes up the connections between the horn button and the horn. OPM procured and installed the right kind of clock spring and the horn now works. I also had OPM install a cruise control switch, so I now also have cruise control again.

In the end, this fix was way above my pay grade, so it's probably a good thing that I took it to OPM.

FWIW, I can't recommend OPM Autosports highly enough. They're terrific.

Thanks again.

BRYAN
