06 Civic EX purchase...
What up guys
Gonna try and explain this as well as possible to keep flaming at a minimum
.
Long story short I've been driving and racing hondas for about 6 years now. Went from a nitrous gsr, to a h22 prelude, to an s2000, to a dc5 type s in the course of about four years. I decided a few months ago to get back into the car tuning hobby again after about a year and a half absence. Spent the last few months looking at multiple cars(type s, 03-05 v6 6spd accords, preludes, and gsr's). Now, based on a suggestion from a friend of mine I kinda started looking for newer civics (04-recent) just to keep my options open. Although i kinda wanted something a bit faster, I RANDOMLY found a deal I believe that I cant pass up.
2006 Civic EX Coupe. Its bone stock except for wheels and slight drop. Silver and looks to be in great shape. Now here's where my questions set in. The vehicle has a clean title, but I was told by the seller that the vehicle was involved in an accident a year ago. The front L fender was replaced, paint matches well and gap is near perfect. However, the drivers seat side air bag was deployed apparently, but has since been replaced and there is no SRS light inside. The center piece to driver side door (gray piece) got slighty cracked from the airbag deployment. The frame is apparently unscathed. I carfax'ed the car today and it showed a clean title, showed the accident, and reported no frame damage. When I test drove the car it seemed to bog a bit when a pushed heavily on the gas in 3rd and 4th. Maintenance light was on as well(30k mile service.) Other than that the car looks great.
The car has 28.5k miles and the seller is asking $9800 for it. Its seems like a great deal considering the car kbb's at about $13k. I am taking it in for a used car inspection on Monday just to check it out. Last but not least its a private dealer gentleman that purchased the car from an auction. According to carfax it was a bank repo.
Should I take this deal? Im looking for something that gets great gas mileage, reliable, low miles, back seat, and that I can play with a bit.
Suggestions? Thoughts? Any feedback is much appreciated.
Sorry for the essay but this issue is plaguing me
, I cant sleep and figured I needed some outside input...
Thank You

If it's not from a Honda dealer, I would avoid it. Only Honda dealerships can provide the Certified Used warranty, which is 7 years/100,000 miles. The warranty on that car is probably 1 month/1,000 miles.
Sounds iffy. Could be a good deal, but it could be a nightmare too. If you are looking for a car which you can make some power with, an EX probably isn't going to make you happy.
You sound like you want a tuner car.
An R18-powered Civic is not it.
The R18 Civic is a fantastic daily driver with reasonable power and great fuel economy. However, it is not modification friendly at all.

R18 models can look the part, but they will never perform worth a crap. I've seen plenty of turboed R18 cars out there, and they just suck. If you want something that is fun to drive, mod friendly and fairly new, find an Si. They can be had for very fair prices all the time.

Could have beat him without hitting vtec. Once vtec engages, say goodbye.
