can someone tell me a little about obd1 and obd2
my car is obd2 but i have know clue what this means
are obd1 tegs faster
i put on a high flow cat about 3 months ago and i recently have had the check engine light go on what does this mean and how does this effect my car?
thanks for the help guys

Ob1 trained luke skywalker i think...i dont know!
It has to do with emission levels, Obd2 being more strict. I think OBD2 cars have two O2 sensors, one below the header and one in the cat, and the stricter the emissions allowed by the ecu the less power the car will have, but its only a small difference. OBD2 ecus cannot (or not easily) be chipped for performance. What did you do with the cat O2 sensor when u put on the cat pipe? Get the code from the CEL, it more than likely is a O2 sensor problem

OBD stands for On Board Diagnostics first of all (it actually took me a while before i could decipher it altho folks were always talking about it).
earlier tegs used OBDI (pre-98 i think, maybe earlier) and for most ppl doing swaps or cam upgrades, etc. OBDI gives more degrees of freedom in terms of tuning the car. OBDII based ECUs are more environmentally friendly and therefore aren't as tuner friendly, i.e. there are fewer parameters in the engine timings and combustion that can be changed. impact of this is a lot of people like to get an OBDII to OBDI harness conversion so that they can use and OBDI ECU (or other equivalent alternative)
that's a very simple, high level summary of what OBD is and benefits of OBDI. i wouldn't say an OBDI based car is any faster than an OBDII equipped car (stock vs. stock) but i will venture out and say that it's a good deal more restrictive since the '00-'01 GSRs have a less restrictive exhaust system but doesn't add anything to the bottom line in terms of engine output.
i'll let other technical experts provide more details on the actual performance differences.
also, OBDIII (which i'm assuming is what the RSX, CRV, and Civic use now) is a lot more complicated and requires $$$$ to even diagnose what's wrong with the car.
