i hate my 2003 tl-s i would never recommend it to anyone. car is crap tranny is crap. pretty much just an accord with nice body and interior. mostly i just hate how ridiculous and overrated acura parts are. in addition to my hate for my own vehicle i hate GUNN ACURA AND ESPECIALLY TONY OSBOURNE!

I just bought a well taken care of '01 CL-S and I noticed that it is starting to shift a little hard in 2nd and 3rd gear. When I floor it sometimes it sounds like a hammer is hitting the floor boards when it shifts in those gears. I don't know if that means the tranny is going, or this thing just has that much power. Anybody else experience that?

So, I 've been freaked out about it from researching the tranny on the net and it looks like the very reliable 2004 and up Acura TL-S tranny can be easily swapped into this car. Anybody know if that's true? If it is I can relax because I'll have a solid back up plan to fall back on if this tranny craps out, like in the horror stories I've read online.

Sounds like ur trans is going out. the 04-08 6spd tl trans can be swapped in. Not the autos. Or the 03-07 accord 6spd trans but they don't have lsd. If u find one u can swap in the 03 cl 6spd trans. Their is a sticky on acurazine.com on the 2nd gen tl section on what u need to do the swap. A hand full of ppl have done it all with the 04+ 6spd tl trans bc those are cheaper and easier to find than a cl.

Actually, it might be your motor mounts (the front mount is hydrolic and tens to go bad prematurely with hard driving. When you accelerate from a dead stop or a low speed rolls...one might hear a thud or "clunk" as some describe it. I had this issue...replaced the front and side mount and it resolved my "clunking" issues.
Is your car Auto or manual?
The 6 speed gearboxes does not have the same issues as the 5 speeds autos.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely look into it. I hope that's what is creating the hard knocking shifts when I floor it.

It's an auto.
