Difference between JDM 4th and 5th Gen engines?

Difference between JDM 4th and 5th Gen engines?

I was wondering if there is anyway to tell the difference between the JDM 92-96 engines from the 97-00 engines? Also, the transmissions are already remove from them, so there is no codes for the tranny. If there are any external visuals I could look for, please let me know. I would appreciate any input.

JDM engines do not end in numbers. I'm not sure how to tell them apart but they will both be stamped H22A, which I'm betting is why you asked the question.
