Default Best clutch/flywheel combo?

Your opinion counts! gsr motor in 92 hatch. all bolt ons w/lsd. 30% track, 70% street.

Keep the poll choices relevant or *poof and you will be gone.

Hey what about adding the Unorthodox Racing Clutch and Lightweight flywheel? I heard those are a good combo but you will be paying out the wasue for it.

Most, if not all (I'm not familiar with Clutchnet or Action Clutch's stages) of the clutches listed are way overkill. If you're staying naturally aspirated with just bolt-on's you can go with a much milder clutch. I've run a stock GSR clutch on slicks and it held fine, although I wouldn't recommend it. I would recomend a performance organic disc (like ACT's) with a slightly heavier pressure plate. Trust me, if you can avoid an aggressive clutch, you will be much happier. A lot of people drive around with heavy pedals and metallic pucked discs that chatter (including me), it's completely do-able. But with as mild a combo as you're running, there's just no reason to even deal with it. BTW, I have a friend making over 320 HP on an ACT performance organic disc and upgraded PP (I think it's ony the HD, but not sure).

If you are running slicks at a track, then I suggest getting something NOT full faced. Slicks will toast those discs really fast. A 6 Puck is fine. Slightly harsher but only tiny bit more effort vs stock.

Ok I am not really sure what you mean by full faced but I have a problem myself now. I really need to know what is the best clutch/flywheel combo since I was racing last night my clutch started slipping really badly. So here is my setup and everyone can tell me what they think I should go with. I have a 99 Honda Accord F23A1 5spd running Unorthodox Racing pullies and a Drag 4 t/3 t/4 hybrid turbo running on street tires. I am running 5psi right now but plan going bigger and putting so slicks on this car. But this is also my daily driver. So I want something this still going to be comfortable in traffic and I don't want a heavy clutch. Thanks for the Help guys. (Newbie to drag racing world...First year in racing) Still I have 5 trophies for my first year which isn't bad. Later Matt

Just had ACT HD-SS clutch and Fidanza flywheel installed on g2 teg, and even with it still in the break-in period...its by far the best investment in my car so far. I love it. Grabs real hard, but is still very street usable.

I say clutchmasters clutch rules all but my friend had just broke either his tranny or differential unit on a clutchmasters clutch. he has bolt ons with cams running street tires draggin on the street and the car broke on the 2nd->3rd shift up. I've never heard of this happening but it just did. he has a stage4 clutch on a 2000 Civic Si. anyone ever hear of that happening? I mean my friend has a gsr with ACT 6Puck and the craziest he's ever broken was an engine mount bolt, but not a tranny. I still will choose clutchmasters for any of my cars in the future! :D

I'm running an exedy HD PP w/ organic disc and lightened OEM flywheel. I'm happy with it.

depends on hsp. i'd run the CM stage 4 with under 400 to the wheels. anything over that i'd run the CM twin disc. if you've got money to burn, buy the tilton.

i have seen the clutchmasters twin disc fall apart...

tilton makes a metal/metal clutch as well as the carbon/carbon if you wanna keep costs down

but as far as clutches go tilton is far and away the best...

tilton is the best, but a twin disc falling apart?? maybe installed incorrectly or somehow just a "bad one" i know personally 5 cars running the twin disc. 1 making over 400 to the wheels, 2 making over 500(one was my own car) and the other two making over 600. none of us has had any problems with that clutch. all of them are a year old or more.

I second that twin disc is the bomb, and it saves trannies, cause it has good realese between shifts, unlike high pressure single disc setup's.Twin disc's just need a couple of mods that other people do not pay attention too.Jason
