I got a 99 civic radio that needs the code, i dont know what to do cause the serial number is worn off and i dont know the vin. any way to reset or a universal code of some sort???

 

it wouldn't be much of a security feature if a crook could just use a universal code... serial and VIN are the two you need and you have neither. nothing really you can do.

as is, it's just a little metal box worth no more than the sum of it's parts... which i think is next to nothing. sorry.

 

best bet is to get a new radio, same thing happened to mine and the dealer couldn't even retrieve a code for me, they just gave me 50 bucks for the radio!

I am having the same problem. I bought my car used with a OEM radio that someone had already installed. I have the radio's serial number which I will list. My question is, how did the previous owner get this radio to work? The radio is OEM, but not original to the car.... Can anyone help retrieve the code?

My radio SN is: M4G429018

 

You can buy mine w/ a serial number and VIN number. Plus it lights up amber in color.

 

I have a radio out of a 2000 civic, should definitely fit in a 1999. Check my signature!!
