Hello all, I'm currently doing an engine bay shave and wire tuck. I'm going through the harness now determining what plugs I can remove. I cant remove the whole from sub-harness that runs on the radiator support if I can just determine if I need these relays. here are a few pictures and where they was located before I removed the harness.... I know two of the relays are ABS Fail Safe and A/C Condenser Fan. but I'm still left with two unknown and cant find them in the FSM...

 

air conditioning and/or coolin fan relay

 

cooling fan relay meaning Fan Motor? There is still 1 I dont know of..


1. ABS Fail Safe
2. AC Condenser
3. MAYBE Fan Relay?

When I did a wire tuck on my teg, those 2 relays went back to the abs plugs and I deleted my abs, the other two are for the fans not 100% sure but I left them I just moved them.

 

well thats makes sense but one of the two relays you mention as (fans) is actually to the AC Condenser. You kept the two on the driver side of the car?

did that harness attach to the underside of the radiator support? if it did then as i said its the AC wiring harness.

 

they are the relays for the fans the abs ones have orange plugs

 

Thats what I thought! The two passanger side relays was orange and the driver side relays are brown plugs. I will just shorten those wires and remove the rest of the harness considering the other 5 plugs I dont need...You can keep an eye on my progress on my build thread...

 

I kept the ac on my car so yeah. good luck on the build.

 

Haha well I pulled the harness apart (the ac sub harness) and found the two relays on the right side are to the A/C components only...

Relays should be like this

Passanger side

1. ABS Pump Relay
2. ABS FAIL SAFE Relay (backs up relay number one) Plug Number C208

Driver side
3. AC Compressor Clutch Plug Number C154
4. AC Condenser Fan Motor Plug Number C155

Where does the Radiator Cooling Fan get it's signal? Back to the FSM...

why did you give me a link to someone asking the same question?

 

Its looks like from the FSM the Radiator Cooling Fan has a relay of its own, however; the signal wire to the relay is also connected to the AC Diode (green wire.)

Correct me if i'm wrong but I beleive I can disregard the AC "sub-harness" all together,relays and all, and be ok as far as radiator cool fan goes?

 

The main fan goes back to the fuse box, if you dont plan to keep the other fan you dont need the wires going to the ac stuff. hope this helps

 

yeah thats what I concluded... I already removed the plug that went to the AC Harness... For anyone wondering the same thing in the future my layout a couple replies up is correct with the addition the Cooling Fan Relay is in the main fuse box.
