Default My first blown motor

Well in 13 years of playing with these little cars I finally had a catastrophic failure for the first time. I've bent valves, broken trannies, and had plenty of minor issues, but being primarily an all motor goof I never had major catastrophic failure until Saturday night

Stock 4B11, 27psi, 200 shot. That'll do it LOL! It held up to 150 just fine and was scooting along pretty well...solid 10 second car with TV and babyseat and all. I think hitting the motor with 600tq at 4K rpm all through a single nozzle was it All in an effort to put up a good fight in some good old fashion backroad drag racing. Whoops!

Lots of baggy and sharpie action going on with all this BS on new cars

This was the insertion point for the bulkhead fitting. In addition to blowing the hose open, it was blown off the throttle body.

Nothing bad here. Intake ports look like a Honda :D I've had one on my flow bench and the intake flows nice....lots of room for improvement on both the intake and exhaust.

Cylinder 1 a little wet

Cylinder #2 broken rod

Cylinder #1 broken rod which made a much larger hole...there is one to match on the back side of the block.

Put it back to stock and enjoy driving the Insight I think. Street cars are fun, but I was pretty pissed off about this ha ha. I knew I was pushing the limits with a torque spike like that.

Maybe put another motor together and hit it with a direct port in 2 stages. I don't like progressive controllers because they beat up solenoids and I don't like big turbo powerbands. That 200 felt like getting punched in the back pretty hard.

Sorry to hear about the blow up, but now you can just build a motor to handle the power.

Just think you could have put on an ETS 35R kit and race gas and made 600whp and it might have lasted a bit longer

But im sure that 200shot felt pretty good tho! sucks... ive seen lots of 4G63 motors blown but this is the first 4B11 ive seen!

My K only lasted a half a year on a 100 shot be happy . Direct port for the win, my intake filter caught fire and disintegrated completely oops when my solenoids got stuck open and backfired. Good luck with the new build always sucks to blow up a newish block and least you can make a cool table out of it :D

Yeah that ETS car seems to be the talk of the town. That is a lot of power for sure, but their pump gas numbers were so so. The difference I suppose is that they are making around 200hp at 4500rpm, whereas a nitrous car makes HUGE average hp. It is hard on rods too LOL! I also drive my ****....that car rolls on and off the dyno and puts some badass numbers on the internet. The only numbers my car puts up are on a big black sign at the end of 1320 feet.

Damn dude, thats some carnage.

Eric and I were trying to figure out all the damage from that night in total, with all parties involved, and we both think that it's over $10k easily, and that's not retail numbers.

Yeah it was some serious carnage, but there were some serious fast cars getting down Unfortunately for me I wasn't able to participate due to spraying too much too low in the powerband. I was trying like hell though. Not going down to the big bad Supras without a fight LOL

340hp+200=540whp
540*5252/4000 = 709wtq

That little stock motor didn't stand a chance ha ha. I don't know how it was holding me spraying out of the hole on a 150 to be honest, but it did.

i wouldnt call it just a dyno/internet queen... i know them personally and was talking to my friend as they were street tuning it on race gas before they took it to the dyno...he would litterly say "hold on i gotta do a pull" ..... but yeah the HUGE tq increase with a NOS motor is another ball game...

Any car that doesn't have track/strip numbers to back up dyno numbers is a dyno/internet queen in my book.

A dyno is just a tuning tool, the track/strip is how a car actually performs.

My 2 cents.

i couldnt agree with you more..

but the way i understood what 4piston said was the car just sees the dyno..when i know that the car is driven on the street at that power level....

Ha ha...hey you brought it up. I see lots of dyno numbers on those forums and not so many track numbers from any of the cars making big power. I'm not taking anything away from them, that thing is impressive for sure. It is a strong motor and I bet they will push it harder. They need to take that sucker to the track and it will ROLL!

If I lined up against that car on the street, when I turned it on they'd be like

ha ha j/k my **** is blown up! Right now I'm rolling my shoedebakers to work!

The Honda K stuff is more expensive. Mitsu makes motors out of dried mud and rocks.
