? for those in SCCA
I am trying to figure out whats necessary to attend one of the driving schools/race events.
I understand whats necessary to get the novice permit.
Then it says you need a fully prepared race car.
What does that mean, exactly...?
Do you have to have a roll cage?
Fire extinguisher?
It never really lists the requirements.
Also, for ITR drivers, the class is T-2.
It says that no car can be older than 5 years.
Will there soon be no place for 97 ITRs??
Sorry if these are dumb questions, but their site has me asking myself more questions now than before I looked at it.
Anyone in here race at Memphis Motor Sports park?
aet

If you're in South Carolina, you need to hop on the Honda Challenge bandwagon

The rules for T-2 are extremely specific, so before you get your car teched for annual, make damn sure you meet the rules for an ITR in T2.
As for IT classes and ITR's, well, they don't mix. There is no place for ITR's in the SCCA amateur lineup. It's retarded. One of the finest touring cars from the factory, and there's no place for it. Much like my other car, the E30 M3.

If you want the rules/requirements just go to an event as a guest and buy a GCR. That will answer your questions on that matter.
But I'd agree with Warren and suggest Honda-Challenge. If you want to run SCCA get an old CRX Si and build an ITA car.

Actually, I'm not in SC anymore, Tennessee now.
So where, or for what group, do all you road racers run in?
MMP (MemphisMotorSports park) is the closest track to me.
I dont see a thing on their schedule even using the road course.
If the SCCA isnt the place to be, what would be better?
I have thought about the old CRX myself a few times, but I would much rather run the ITR.

If you really do want to actually road race your ITR, I would definitely go with H2 in Honda Challenge. That's where a few of the ITR road racers on here race their cars. You can try T2, but I wouldn't waste money running that in a car that is outclassed and does not have a chance to win its class at the runoffs. H2 is calling out your name.
i was wondering if there was a class for turbo hondas to race in . do any of the organaztions even allow those to race ? im on the west coast but jus wonderin if maybe one of you guys could answer my question .
THANKS .
THANKS .
