Icon6 A sneak peak...

Well after a couple rough years... it looks like my engine build is nearing completion. Less the TB here is what's going on the car tonight:

YES, that's the 3" cat back system and I'll let you guys start telling me that its TOO big

The throttle body is waiting for a new intake manifold (I'm looking for a skunk2 pro series at the moment).

Cheers,
Doug

1.8L (see my post above)

So I installed the header/exhaust tonight. I'm missing my catalytic converter right now but a short drive tomorrow morning the a nearby custom exhaust shop will take care of that... Ran the car for a minute with the header open... Man I love that sound... reminded me of my times at Mosport.

Small problem with the install... aparently the Skunk2 header doesn't like the TypeR transmission brace and I had to remove it entirely for now just to get the header on. I was disapointed of course as my options now are to find a GSR brace or grind mine down and likely the bolt heads to make the old one fit.

Does anyone have a spare GSR style tranny brace they can send my way?

here are a couple comparison shots:

Had a 70mm Skunk2 with a Tri-y and test pipe, was loud as hell!! My neighbors didn't appreciate my late night drives. I doubt the 76mm will be too big, if you're
not running a cat the collector will be the bottle neck.

Are you gonna retune? I'd be interested to see what this would pull on Tony's dynapack. I pulled 200whp, 130ftlb. GSR with ITR piston, street P&P, Pro1's, tri-y, 70mm exhaust.

So... got the catalitic converter installed this morning and the system is now all buttoned up. My first impression was this:

It's way too F**king loud!

I'm going to try installing the but plug later but there is no way you could daily drive this as it is. I mean... its sounds awsome and makes the idle with the pro1 cams very very cool. but after driving around for about 45mins my ears are ringing, and that is without stepping hard on the throttle once.

I hand inserted the but plug and it does seem to cut the noise down alot so I'll give that a try later.

Another observation was that was my 02 sensor was recording fairly lean numbers when ever I would get on the gas a little (and pull the ECU out of closed loop). This tells me that the VE has gone up which means more power wich is a good thing A small tune up session will be needed before I realy see what this setup can do.

some more pics from today:

Cheers,
Doug

why not install a resonator inline instead of installing the silencer? a good 30" long res. should really help cut down on the noise

Maybe an option down the road for sure... but for now I'm just going to leave it as it is. I'm just happy that the silencer is as effective as it is.

Actualy... just ordered the GSR scatter sheild from Honda so that I can cover it up. the OE ITR tranny brace doesn't quite fit with this header. I'll be modifying it shortly but in the mean time I don't want to drive around with my flywheel exposed like that... Not a good idea.

Cheers,
Doug

They look like they are; however, when looking down the collector opening they look like they do a good job of blending the primaries together.
