Im looking for recommendations on what to do with my engine. Needs a rebuild bad. Burning alot of oil. It's go blow by like crazy. Anyway i got the eBay special Nippon ctr piston rebuild kit. I want daily driver but more power. Is this setup gonna work for me? Also anyone know about the rod issue with ctr pistons in an a3 block? Anyway pointers appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's a b16a3. I just want to get as much horsepower as I can with the ctr pistons. They are .020 oversize also. I still want to run pump gas. As for spending well as for most people we be broke but I'm a mechanic so I'll be doing it all myself besides the machine work and what ever that requires.
ok, im needing the same advice as op, i have the same engine on a turbo, 9psi. i have the oppurtunity to get my hands on ctr pistons (.5mm oversized) will i gain from these on a turbo set-up or will it raise my compression too high for the turbo? im running a b16a3, gsr cams, skunk2 springs, valves and retainers, my head has been milled slightly when i re did the head gasket, im near stock compression now (10.4:1 approx.) what am i looking at as far as machine work, gas, etc?
if your gonna stay turbo go with a diff piston not ctr it will raise the comp. i would go with stock replacement or aftermarket low comp pistons, plus to use ctr pistons in a b16 block u need to shave down the rods to make them work(search and you'll find a pic showing u what needs to be done)recent threads on it,but if i were u stay stock pistons or save money and go with aftermarket
yeah, thats what i thought too, b16b pistons are just destroke b18's. i might get them and do a b16b build, dont see many of those around here, i think ima build a em1 with the ctr in it.
dont use b16b CTR pistons
11.91 CR and it sticks .7mm out of the deck

its 10:9:1 actually and thts not too far fromstock which is 10:8:1 in a b16a3 so wats the big deal? ctrs are good for the right setup like an ls block an gsr head w/ ctrs puts out 12:64:1
now b4 u get big black in my face I know Nippon is claiming 12:64:1 with their pistons ls blk n gsr head and 10:8:1 in a b16 w/ b16/b18c5 head so yes u are correct I am wrong only as long as Ur talkin bout stock b16b pistons tht is I'm talkin bout the eBay ctrs that have the skirts coated and higher compression now which brings to the reason I referred to this page is because I am building an all motor b17@1 w/ itr head p&p blox stage 2 cams dual valve spring n of course retainers so tht pretty much takes care of the top end and I plan on using (ebay)ctrs and a 2 layer hg o and its .20 over this setup will put me at a nice 11:8:1(w/ Honda wo ctrs) which I'm fine with I jus wanna no if the ebay nippons will last does ne1 no wat kinda r&d went into these pistons cuz iv been hearing some ppl bash on these pistons an I can't find nothin wrong w/ them and I do belive these pistons run 0:4:1 higher than oe ctrs correct me if I'm wrong
aalso reason I say the ebay ctrs run 0:4:1 higher is cause on the compression calculator it says oe ctrs will make 12:2:1 w/ gsrhead so if that's correct then ebay pistons are 0:4:1 higher since they claim 12:64:1 w/ tht same setup
